The backstory:

Though the story is meant to be fun, there are true elements of surfing that are explained. Mostly, the underlying theme that although the ocean is a wondrous place it’s also important to respect it. Respecting the ocean includes knowing basic ocean safety, but also, and most importantly taking care of the ocean and the lives it hosts. Along those lines we are doing are part by donating to Surfrider Foundation.
